When it comes to Haaretz’s recent article titled, “Love It or Hate It: Circumcision and Its ‘Reversal’ in the Ancient World,” there were exceptional parts. It’s a detailed analysis of the practice throughout time. Even as a mohel, I learned a substantial amount. But that’s not to say it was entirely without issue. When discussing the controversy around circumcision, it’s both fascinating and informative. But when it attempts to make claims about Jewish practice, it seems both misinformed and misguided.
